"Do not think that love, in order to be genuine, has to be
extraordinary. What we need is to love without getting
tired." ~ MOTHER TERESA

IN-SHELTER
VOLUNTEERING
-
Dog
Washes
are held at various locations during the warmer months. This
event not only generates income, but it also gives the public a chance
to learn how to care for their pet and an opportunity to ask questions
about their pet's health. Volunteers simply show up on designated days.
Experience Needed: Should be comfortable around dogs and not afraid to
get wet!
-
Kennel
Techs are responsible for helping the staff clean
and feed the animals throughout the day.
-
Help with dog walking and general handling, elementary obedience
training focusing on good manners.
-
Spend
quality time with the cats, socializing them and helping to keep their area clean.
-
Adoption
Desk Support for the staff at the front desk. Answering the
phones, completing adoption paperwork, and providing general animal care
information to the public. Computer knowledge is helpful, and good
customer service skills are a must.
OUT-OF-SHELTER
VOLUNTEERING
- We
need volunteers who are willing to help plan, organize and
participate in special events and fund raisers in the community. Other jobs may include hanging posters, stuffing envelopes,
and other projects as needed.
- Humane
Society of Atchison takes the show on the road! We transport
adoptable cats and dogs to satellite Adopt-a-Pet events. We
need help loading and unloading the animals, setting up and
taking down tables and kennels, protecting the dogs and
cats, and assisting
potential adopters. You simply need
to have a smiling face and like to be around cats and dogs. This
is very important work.
